Essential Question
How did you apply video game design theory to your GCOM 420 projects and prototypes?
Riot City
Me and my group member wanted Riot City to be the shooting (top-down adventure) game of the century that will rock your world. We wanted the beginning of the game to start out with a news report of a riot happening in the middle of the city where you the player live. You play as (Chad) an ex cop who wants to get out of the city before the military drops bombs but before he leaves he sees the man who killed his partner so he decided to stay and fight. Your objective in the game is to kill all the bad guys and get to the evacuation area before the bombs fall. While playing the game you will find ammo for your gun, health, and power ups for special abilities. Each level will get progressively harder and the number of bag guys will randomly be thrown at you.

My group member and I wanted to further expand our game riot city so we did. We changed the name to Riot City Over Drive to show that this was our second attempt at further bettering our game. We started by adding more enemies that will chase you and attack you. Each enemy deals 1 point of damage to you if you get hit 4 times you die. After you kill all 10 of the bad guys you proceed to to enter a door that takes you to level 2 (the arcade). In the arcade we added a boss we plan in our final version to have the boss attack you we want the boss to have around 50 points of health. The boss will not just be chasing you but he will shoot at you as well in order to move on to level 3 you will have to beat the boss.
